The 2021 World University Rankings published by the Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings was released on September 4, 2020. MCU has earned a place in the World University Rankings for five consecutive years. Moreover, MCU is ranked in the 501-600, top 10 in Taiwan in the World University Rankings 2021 by subject for business and economics for three consecutive years, released on October 28, 2020.
Time flies! Half a semester has nearly passed and 1st-year students are going to face their first university midterm examinations next week: Nov. 9 to 13, 2020. The traditional MCU plum-blossom examination seating arrangement will be implemented; in line with the new life of epidemic containment, everyone is required to please wear a face mask for all the examinations.
Assistant professor in MCU’s International College (IC), Dr. Timothy McBush Hiele, and a MCU IMBA alumnus, Brandon Parker Davis, were recognized by the New Taipei City Government for their significant contributions to bilingual resource-sharing and collaborative development.
Ming Chuan University cultivates students with 10 basic capacities; by assisting graduating students in earning 10 Pillars Certificates, they are equipped with interpersonal relationship, global mobility and basic problem-solving abilities. A total of 1128 graduating students earned 10 Pillars Certificates in 2019-20 and 45 among them earned Certification of Excellent 10 Pillars Competency and scholarships.
The most influential university rankings, the UK Times Higher Education, announced the Best ‘Golden Age’ Universities 2020 on June 24. MCU has been included in this ranking for 2 consecutive years as No. 251-300 in the world, which is among the top 10 in Taiwan.
For five consecutive years now, MCU has earned a place in the World University Rankings by UK Times Higher Education for excellent achievements in education. Once again, MCU placed in The Golden Age University Rankings. MCU’s Hospitality & Tourism Management ranked 37th globally in Shanghai Ranking Consultancy’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2020, the top among all universities in Taiwan. MCU ranked No. 7 in Literature, Law and Business in 2020 Global Views Monthly Taiwan Best Universities Ranking, ranking No.12 overall among private universities.
Times Higher Education (THE) released the newest 2020 Asia University Rankings on June 3, listing a total of 489 universities in 30 countries, among which are 36 Taiwanese universities. MCU has now been included in the rankings for four consecutive years, one of the few private Taiwanese universities to enter the rankings, and the only U.S.-accredited university in Asia.
Regarding the last exams for graduating students who have been studying at MCU for 4 years, to lower the risk of cluster infection, the evaluation method for graduation exams is changed to in-class assessment set by the respective faculty members, so examinations will be administered in the original classes during the original class hours due to the pandemic spread of COVID-19 around the world. Following the adjustment of course schedule, the graduation examinations will be held from May 20 to May 26, 2020.
In line with the disease containment regulations for COVID-19, the 31st MCU Literary and Arts Awards Ceremony will be held on two campuses for the first time in its history. The ceremony will be held on May 18 noon in Taipei Campus Multipurpose Theatre and Distance Education Classroom and on May 19 in the atrium of EE Building, wherein a total of 63 students will be awarded prizes. To lower the risk of cluster infection, the ceremonies are only open for prize winners; faculty members and other students can share in their happiness through online streaming.
